On the 1st of November 1952 the United States of America tested their new Hydrogen bomb which greatly exceeded their expectations. On the 1st of May 1954 the U.S. tested a 15 megaton version in Bikini which became the largest ever man made explosion. The explosion was believed to be more than 1,000 times that of the atom bomb dropped on Hiroshima but the measurements proved too much for the instruments set to meassure them. The Blast vapourised one of the atolls and infected 264 people with radiation poisioning
